The present range for the existence of Jaguar today ranges from Southwestern United States and Mexico in North America, across much of Central America and south to Paraguay and Northern Argentina in South America. It tends to range across the variety of open and forested terrains, but preferably chosen habitat is tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest, wooded regions and swamps. It is said that the jaguar like swimming and is largely an opportunistic, solitary, stalk and ambush predator at the top of the food chain.
