The Nike Logo is a Swoosh sign, currently one of the most famous brand logos in the world worth $26 billion. Nike is an American athletic shoe and apparel designer and retailer brand. Nike was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight on January 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports. Its name was changed to Nike Inc. on May 30, 1971. The same year the company adopted the Swoosh logo as its official logo. The logo was created by a student from the same university where Phil Knight taught. The name of the student was Carolyn Davidson and the university name was Portland State University. The design of the logo was made by keeping in mind that it should represent motion.
The current famous logo of Nike is not the same as the one which was originally designed in 1971. Since 1971, it has undergone some minor changes. For example, earlier the logo used to be accompanied with NIKE written alongside the swoosh sign, whereas today the logo which is famous has only the Swoosh sign. Also there has been a change in the colour scheme of the logo, earlier the logo was used in the colour palette of orange and white but recently the solid black logo has been adopted and received popularity.
