Skeleton is seen as the bony structure of the body that provides support, shape and protection to the soft tissues and delicate organs of animals. There are many types of skeleton: the exoskeleton, which is the stable outer covering of the organism, the endoskeleton that forms the supporting structure inside the body, the hydro-skeleton, the flexible skeleton with liquid pressure, and the cytoskeleton within it. The word comes from Greek skeletons, meaning 'dried up'. There are two main types of skeletons: solid and fluid. Solid skeletons may be internal, called endoskeleton, or exterior, which can be further classified as platen (elastic / movable) or rigid (non-rigid). Liquid skeletons are always internal. Bones are solid organs that form part of the endoskeleton of the vertebrae. They work to move, support and protect various organs of the body, produce red and white blood cells, and store minerals. Bones have a variety of textures, with complex internal and external structure. They are lightweight, yet strong and robust. A type of tissue that forms bone tissue is mineral tissue and gives it a three-dimensional structure. Other types of tissues found in the bones include the medulla, endosteum and periosteum, nerve, blood vessels, and cartilage. The adult human body has 206 bones and 270 for infant.
